The British Council is Calling: Designers from the UK & the Philippines

that will have the opportunity to participate to the Milan Design Week 2026 at BASE.

di BASE & BRITISH COUNCIL

BASE Milano and the British Council are looking for UK-based and Philippines-based — emerging designer and/or creative who will have the opportunity to participate in Milano Design Week 2026 at Base.

Every year, during Design Week, BASE becomes a living laboratory — a place where unfinished ideas breathe, and radical visions take shape. Here, new voices use design to question the present and imagine fairer, more conscious ways of living.

At the heart of this transformation is Temporary Home: a residency where five designers from around the world live and work inside casaBASE. For one intense week, the hostel turns into an open studio — a porous, ever-changing space where research unfolds, experiments surface, and the public is invited to step inside the process.

Thanks to the partnership with the British Council, one UK–based designer and one Philippines–based designer will enter Temporary Home, living and creating inside casaBASE throughout Milan Design Week 2025:

Who we are looking for:

↘ We are calling for designers who see in darkness not an end, but a beginning.
↘ We welcome every discipline, every background, every age.
↘ We invite emerging talents based in the UK and based in the Philippines — including designers who identify as disabled, whether physical, sensory, neurological, or cognitive.

Key dates:

Exhibition: 20–26th April 2026
↘ Arrival: 3–4 days before setup
↘ Departure: 2–3 days after closing

BASE & British Council shared commitment to accessibility, visibility, and the power of emerging voices. This renewed collaboration brings together international talent and fresh perspectives for a new edition of Design Week.

Deadline for application 9 January 2026.
