When silence is not an absence, but living matter, and a possibility for connection between bodies, spaces, and communities.
ReSilence is an exhibition of performative installations that transform listening into a collective experience. In a remote region of FAROUT, within an immersive and interactive space, an deafening silence unfolds: fifteen international artistic residencies presenting fifteen projects that have combined art, technology, and science to envision future cities as sound ecosystems. They investigate the role of sound in building more conscious public spaces and communities.
Sound rides the air, traveling between public parks, gentrified neighborhoods, stadiums, ports, and cities under siege, reaching the intimacy of the gut biota. It thus becomes a tool through which we can rethink social and creative dynamics and imagine new ways of coexistence.
The German-Austrian composer Brigitta Muntendorf inaugurates ReSilence by bringing FORCE IS PRESENT —a national premiere—to the FAROUT Live Arts Festival 2025. This is an audiovisual experiment where sound is generated by the sheer force of movement. Using sensors and light barriers, Muntendorf creates a completely new visual and sonic experience.
