FAROUT Live Arts Festival
Known as 2018 VG18: the most distant planet from the Sun ever observed. Also called FAROUT.
But it is also BASE’s festival dedicated to live arts and contemporary creation.
FAROUT. Distant, blurred, unconventional. This trajectory defines the festival’s horizon: observing the present from alternative perspectives, crossing disciplinary borders, letting ourselves be guided by the unknown.
Each edition transforms BASE’s ex-industrial spaces into an ecosystem of bodies, sounds, and visions. Performance, dance, theatre, installations, concerts, parties. An undisciplined, collective landscape where artists and audiences meet to imagine new aesthetics. Rooted in a contemporary world to look at, once again, from far away.
FAROUT 2026
From 10 September to 2 December, FAROUT transforms the stage into an ecosystem of performance, installations, participatory practices, immersive experiences, and hybrid formats. Interrogating the relationship between visibility and power, technology and desire, body and transformation, knowledge and mystery.
The theme of this edition is Hello Darkness ↗: a collective descent into the shadows of the present. To inhabit uncertainty, find new forms of nocturnal resistance, and overturn the fear of the dark. A radical exercise in vision: learning to see where there seems to be no light, igniting unexpected imaginaries for dark times.
