ReSilence: Future Soundscapes & Affect Mining in Urban Ecosystems

exhibition
FAROUT

When silence is not absence but living matter — a possibility for connection between bodies, spaces, and communities.

From October 9 to 21, BASE Milano becomes a sensorial ecosystem: ReSilence is an experiential exhibition of performative installations that turns listening into a collective experience.
In a remote region of FAROUT — within an immersive, interactive environment — a deafening silence emerges: fifteen international artistic residencies for fifteen projects that bring together art, technology, and science to imagine the cities of the future as sonic ecosystems, exploring the role of sound in shaping public spaces and more conscious communities.

ReSilence transforms listening into a collective and activist experience.
Born from residencies that explored crucial bonds — sound and body, sound and architecture, sound and environment — these projects imagine the cities of the future as sonic ecosystems. Sound rides the air, moving through unexpected contexts — from parks and stadiums to besieged cities and even the intestinal biota — becoming a tool to rethink our relationships with the environment and with each other.

Each installation is a living work that changes with those who encounter it, using advanced technologies such as spatial audio and augmented reality so that art is not only seen but lived and perceived.

ReSilence is an invitation to let listening transform us.
It is not just an exhibition, but a platform that compels us to hear what we usually ignore: the echo of the body, the heartbeat of the city, the voices that often go unheard.
A chance to bring forth visions born from interaction — including the one that will happen with you.
