X is a sensory performance experience that unites sound, movement, and archetypal symbolism, generating a suspended space between the real and the surreal. Inspired by shamanic practices and the symbols of Artemis, the Moon, and the cardinal points, Olimpia Fortuni and Katatonic Silentio transform the stage into a place of connection: with oneself, with nature, with others.

At the heart of the work lies the symbol of the X, the meeting point where two lines cross—metaphor of a passage, a bridge towards an elsewhere where body and music open spaces of care and transformation. Here, the dialogue between the two artists—the musician and the dancer—and the audience takes form, inviting participants into a journey of sensory perception and contemplation.

Each performance is a unique ritual, constantly in transformation, guiding the audience on a collective voyage of listening and imagination.

For this performance, an assisted listening system is available to ensure that people with hearing impairments can fully participate in and enjoy the event.

The technology used transmits audio directly to hearing aids or cochlear implants through your smartphone.

Using the app is very simple! Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to use it:

1. Initial Setup

Download and install the app:
Go to Google Play Store (for Android) or the App Store (for iOS).

Headphones or wired earphones:
Make sure to bring suitable headphones or wired earphones for your smartphone to listen to the audio clearly.

Hearing aids or cochlear implants:
Ensure that audio streaming to your smartphone or tablet is activated.

2. Connecting to the Wi-Fi Network

Connect to the local Wi-Fi network:
To use Listen WiFi, you must be connected to the local Wi-Fi network configured for the system.
Use the QR Code provided.

Please note: some smartphone models require disabling mobile data.

3. Launch the App and Select the Audio Channel

Open the Listen WiFi app:
Once connected to Wi-Fi, launch the app on your device.
Tap on the channel “Ascolta”.

The audio will begin playing immediately.

Bio

Olimpia Fortuni is a dancer and choreographer. She graduated as a performer at the Civica Scuola di Teatro Paolo Grassi in Milan and completed the two-year program Scritture per la danza contemporanea directed by Raffaella Giordano. Her academic studies merge with those of acting, exploring the truth of gesture and creating a profound dialogue between the two disciplines. Her choreographic research investigates the complex relationships between human, nature, and animal.

In 2010, together with 11 other artists, she co-founded the collective Famigliafuchè, a two-year research process aimed at developing a horizontal approach centered on the Present. From 2011 to 2014 she created choreographies for the productions of Roberto Rustioni and taught movement to actors. She has choreographed stage movements for works by E. Aldrovandi, and has performed in Kiss by Tino Sehgal, Lo scorrevole by Vettori Pisani, and for artists such as Costanzo/Rustioni, Arearea, La Valdoca, Samotracia, G. Rossi, R. Giordano, Casa Strasse, Zerogrammi, Company Blu, E. Consonni, and D. Valrosso. She currently collaborates with Ambra Senatore at the CCN in Nantes (FR). Since 2014, her choreographic works have been presented at numerous dance festivals across Italy, Europe, and Asia.

Mariachiara Troianiello, the Italian sound artist behind the moniker Katatonic Silentio, works at the intersection of electronic music, performance art, and sound studies. Both as performer and independent researcher, she builds bridges between diverse approaches to sound-making. Active as a DJ for over 15 years, her sets span multiple forms: from pure abstraction through musique concrète, world, spoken word, ambient, or dub, to club-oriented beats exploring techno, leftfield, or drum’n’bass.

She considers sound as a critical tool and is deeply invested in exploring sonic practices from both artistic and sociological perspectives. As a composer, she investigates the interaction between sound, space, movement, and the body through her collaborations in theatre and dance. As a researcher, her current work delves into the most ancient and mythological dimensions of sound, exploring its origins and tracing its evolution from primitive cultures to the modern world.

She has performed at international festivals including Berlin Atonal, Transart, New Now & Mutek, Jazz Is Dead, Paral·lel, Nextones, Meakusma, La Nature, Mostra, Fuori Festival, Festival dei Due Mondi, and Draaimolen. Her works have been exhibited in institutions such as the Triennale Milano, RAI Studio di Fonologia (Milan), the Asian Civilisations Museum (Singapore), and the Museum Angewandte Kunst (Frankfurt), among others. Her music has been released on labels including Delsin, Ilian Tape, Midnight Shift, and Fleur Sauvage.
