When silence is not absence but a living matter: an opening to relations between bodies, spaces, and communities.
ReSilence is an exhibition of performative installations that transforms listening into a collective experience. In a remote region of FAROUT, within an immersive and interactive environment, the audience contributes to shaping an ever-evolving soundscape.
Through art-driven explorations of science and technology, ReSilence challenges established conceptions of the urban spaces, using sound to chart the affective tissue and anthropic ecologies of future cities. Gathering the outcomes of fifteen international art residencies, the project tackles complex aural relations beyond the appearance of mere noise and informational cacophony that distinguish the contemporary age. ReSilence redefines social and creative dynamics through sound in order to redesign the public sphere as a resonant environment.
Fifteen international artistic residencies brought together art, technology, and science to imagine the cities of the future as sonic and relational ecosystems—fifteen projects exploring the role of sound, and its suspension, in building public spaces and more conscious communities.

FAROUT OPENING PERFORMANCE
9 OTTOBRE
FAROUT opening performance:
Status quo – HABITAT 26.07.24
by Brigitta Muntendorf
German-Austrian composer Brigitta Muntendorf inaugurates ReSilence at FAROUT Live Arts Festival 2025 with an immersive 3D-Audio requiem where the audience itself becomes the only performer. No singers, no musicians on stage: AI-generated voice clones, an electronic soundscape, lights, and text guide the audience—now a temporary community—through a collective ritual.
