Mammalian Diving Reflex — Tenacious Teen Trophies

This year, FAROUT Live Arts Festival introduces the Official Festival Jury! A group of outspoken teenagers will evaluate almost all of this year’s projects, observing, reviewing, critiquing, and ultimately voting on everything FAROUT has to offer. These lively viewers will be treated as true VIPs as they confer awards during the final Award Ceremony, based on their personal criteria applied to a program not specifically designed for them.

Tenacious Teen Trophies redefines the social contract between young people, adult audiences, and cultural and artistic institutions. Typically, the critical perspectives of teenagers are sidelined, overlooked by adult artists, organizations, curators, reviewers, and the media. With the establishment of an Official Festival Jury, Tenacious Teen Trophies empowers teenagers to make executive decisions and actively participate in the artistic and cultural landscape, giving weight and legitimacy to their essential viewpoints.

Beyond its educational value, Tenacious Teen Trophies is a subversive act that challenges adults to reconsider the power dynamics inherent in our perceptions of youth, education, and art. The verdict will be decisive!
