FAROUT Live Arts Festival
Making Kin
WELCOME TO FAROUT 2025
From October 9 to November 22, a month and a half of performances, exhibitions, and talks: FAROUT transforms the stage into an affective ecosystem of sounds, bodies, and thoughts inhabiting BASE and the city.
The theme of this edition is Making Kin: a call to weave new relationships, to care for one another, to break the logic of isolation, to rewrite “us.”
A poetic gesture, utopian in the most concrete sense: inventing livable practices for unlivable times.

FAROUT OPENING PERFORMANCE
FORCE IS PRESENT –– National première
by Brigitta Muntendorf
German-Austrian composer Brigitta Muntendorf inaugurates ReSilence with the national première of FORCE IS PRESENT at FAROUT Live Arts Festival 2025—an audiovisual experiment where sound is generated solely through the force of movement. Using sensors and light barriers, Muntendorf creates a completely new visual and sonic experience.

Opening Weekend Programme

temporale {a lesbian tragedy} – Calderoni – Caleo
A weather bulletin of our inner storms. temporale {a lesbian tragedy} is the preview of FAROUT Festival.

What Will We Do Without Exile? – Basel Zaraa
A hymn to the invisible, unyielding strength of Palestinian imagination—resisting and reinventing freedom. This immersive installation transforms a refugee tent into a suspended landscape.

Manual Focus – Mette Ingvartsen
Bodies morph into hybrid, uncanny, and unsettling creatures. Mette Ingvartsen returns to BASE with an iconic work of metamorphosis, masks, and monstrous imaginaries.

Whatever I am / let it be seen – Giorgia Ohanesian Nardin
An elegy in the form of dance: liturgical chant, prayer, and cathartic ritual restoring to the body its transformative power, between tragedy and sensorial experience.

Barrio's Forrest – Rafael Candela
A sudden passage transforms the everyday into a stage, opening up possibilities for relationships with the environment and audiences—both intentional and accidental.

Darkness Picnic – DOM–
A picnic on the edge of dream and wakefulness, where night becomes a stage and bodies act as antennas of a sensitive landscape. A temporary bivouac for nocturnal stories: stopping together, to listen.

Le Cannibale X FAROUT Festival W/ Romare + Enea Pascal
For the fifth year in a row, Le Cannibale and FAROUT Festival weave their languages into a night that is both party and performance, clubbing and artistic exploration.

Je Vous Aime – Diana Anselmo
A historic gesture becomes counter-history: voice, images, and sign language restore presence and dignity to a silenced community.

Butch Tribute – Sterud / Kongsness
Three choreographic acts celebrating queer female masculinity—through play, desire, and intimacy.

Upcoming events

KIN – Collettivo Amigdala
KIN is a performance in the form of an open assembly. A temporary community where each woman’s voice intertwines with the others, weaving a sonic and political fabric that never repeats itself.

Forrest – Rafael Candela
A sudden passage transforms the everyday into a stage, opening up possibilities for relationships with the environment and audiences—both intentional and accidental.

El Viaje – Cardellini ◇ Gonzalez, in collaborazione con Colectivo utópico
A collective journey that overturns the very idea of travel: not the destination, but the time of walking becomes the space to reimagine borders, migration, and community.

MAJA Y BASTARDA – Laila Tafur
From tablao to theatre, cave to cabaret, guild to catwalk—MAJA Y BASTARDA is a dance that resists purity.

Coser y Contar – Laila Tafur
To sew and to tell: hand-stitching a popular grammar ready to travel from village to city, museum to tablao, commerce to passion, market to runway, studio to party.

Ritual III: WHISPER – ALOS
A collective ritual of sound, body, and transformation, where the voice becomes breath, play, and wild power.
In collision with Linecheck:

BLEAH!!! – Annamaria Ajmone, Laura Agnusdei
What does dance sound like? How does music dance? A show where boundaries dissolve and roles are reversed.

Canto Primo – gruppo nanou & OvO
Beyond the limits of perception, between reality and science fiction, in a visual and physical landscape exploding with infernal and dreamlike visions.

X /per/ – Olimpia Fortuni & Katatonic Silentio
Inspired by shamanic practices and the symbols of Artemis, the Moon, and the cardinal points, Olimpia Fortuni and Katatonic Silentio turn the stage into a space of connection—with oneself, with nature, with the other.
FAROUT LIVE ARTS FESTIVAL 2025 /
PROGRAMME
50 days of performances and collective actions
An intense programme takes over BASE with performances, exhibitions, installations, participatory moments, and shared reflections. A constellation of diverse artistic voices engages with the festival’s themes through radically different languages and perspectives. A porous, ever-changing space—open to presence, and to the creation of new sensitive horizons.
FAROUT LIVE ARTS FESTIVAL 2025 /
IN THE CITY
CAVALCAVIA
Milan transforms into an open, ever-evolving field where art becomes a meeting ground and proximity is the first step towards imagining new alliances.
Between BASE and the city: once again, FAROUT spreads into the urban fabric with site-specific projects across Milan and its neighbourhoods—from Giambellino to Barona, Porta Genova to transitional areas—rewriting the relationship between art and public space.
FAROUT’s city programme is part of the CAVALCAVIA project, realised with the support of the Municipality of Milan under Milano è Viva nei quartieri.
FAROUT LIVE ARTS FESTIVAL 2025 /
IN COLLISION WITH
17 –– 22 NOV
This year, FAROUT collides with Linecheck Music Meeting & Festival.
Cross-pollinations between sound and performance bring two complementary worlds into resonance: some of the shows in this edition of Linecheck, A Beautiful Presence, are co-produced by FAROUT, building a bridge between sound and the performing arts. Among the artists: Olimpia Fortuni + Katatonic Silentio, gruppo nanou and OvO, Annamaria Ajmone and Laura Agnusdei.
The Meeting and Conference programme of Linecheck will also be co-curated with BASE and FAROUT, featuring special events exploring the relationship between sound and performance—enriching the audience’s experience and fostering dialogue across diverse creative communities, beyond disciplines.
Linecheck is an international festival and music meeting exploring contemporary languages of music and performing arts, through a multi-centred ecosystem connecting Milano and Bologna.
