It is hypothesized that if a person of 65 kg were to eat 40 apples (200 apple seeds), they would likely die from cyanide poisoning. In Poison Apple, the apple is recontextualized as a lethal object through the proposal of a speculative end-of-life scenario. By exploring alternative ways of dying with the aid of biotechnology, Poison Apple highlights the evolving nature of death rituals post-COVID, during which traditional burial practices were disrupted.

Holly Zambonini is a researcher and designer exploring all things Necropolitical. Her work is multidisciplinary ranging from filmmaking to design and everything in between. She graduated with a First Class Product Design degree from the Glasgow School of Art in 2020 and an MA in Contextual Design from the Design Academy Eindhoven in June 2023. She is Scottish-American and currently resides in The Netherlands.
