It represents a moment of awareness and expresses the desire to preserve and protect a sense of meaning — in making, thinking, expressing oneself, working, striving — increasingly called into question by a world that is becoming faster and more dependent on software.

“To desire is to feel intensely the absence of something. To desire is the will to obtain or realize that thing. Desire is both a physical and spiritual need.

Why think? Why struggle? Why work? Why make an effort? I am frightened by the loss of meaning within a future that is becoming increasingly artificial and numerical. If a machine can do it for me, I still wish not to empty things — or myself — of meaning. I feel the need to search for meaning, to care for it and cultivate it through people, places, and actions.”
