Multispecies Dinner by Federico Rizzo / Salicornia Studio, is a food design project born from the fusion of gastronomy, ecology, and philosophy, inviting participants to engage in a deep reflection on our relationship with the natural world.
This culinary experience transforms the dining table into a vibrant environment where food and utensils become mediators of multispecies dialogue. The dinner takes place in a setting that evokes natural habitats, where dishes and utensils are designed to prompt reflection on ecology, hyper-extractivism, and the commodification of natural resources.
During the event, diners will become active participants in a convivial workshop exploring recipes inspired by what marine animals like sea urchins, octopuses, and crabs eat, using ingredients from the Multispecies Cookbook. The preparations include dishes such as pasta with seaweed cream, seaweed herb meatballs, seaweed flour bread, and plankton oil, encouraging a deeper and more conscious culinary experience.
Each participant will be involved in the preparation process, immersing themselves in the sustainable and playful practice of reinterpreting recipes from an animal’s point of view. The dinner goes beyond a gastronomic moment, transforming into a collective reflection on ecological issues and our impact on marine environments. The informal symposium that will follow the tasting will provide space for discussions and idea exchanges, with a focus on the design and philosophy that animate the project.
