Materia Talk presenta: Chi è sopra e chi è sotto?

How are our relationships changing? How are love, families, desires, and language being rewritten in our present?

In July, BASE turns upside down with Sottosopra and opens the month with a new Materia Talk: a moment to explore how emotional and social bonds are evolving, from new forms of parenting to linguistic shifts, all the way to the darkest corners of the web.

A multi-voiced conversation to navigate post-romantic relationship models, fluid identities, intergenerational tensions, and extreme phenomena such as the incel movement.

With us:

  • Annalisa Ambrosio, author of L’amore è cambiato. L’era post-romantica (Einaudi), will guide us through new forms of love and desire beyond the traditional couple.
  • Caterina Perali, writer of Come arcipelaghi (Neo Edizioni), will share the story of Chiara, a woman who chooses to become a mother via anonymous donor — a powerful reflection on contemporary parenting.
  • Antonio Pellegrino, journalist, will present his investigation Idioti dell’orrore (Linkiesta), analyzing the incel phenomenon: men who identify as “involuntary celibates” and often turn frustration into physical and verbal violence.
  • Beatrice Cristalli, linguist and author of Parla bene, pensa bene. Piccolo dizionario delle identità (Bompiani), will help us decode how language shapes thought, relationships, and the way we inhabit the present.

So... is this getting serious?
