On Friday 17 May, Heroes Festival, the Music Innovation Hub project for sustainability and inclusiveness, makes a stop at BASE Milano, as part of the WeWorld Festival, with Deena Abdelwahed and Populous for an evening in which electronics will meet Middle Eastern sounds.

The 2024 edition of Heroes Festival will be a widespread music festival that will cross Italy during the month of May, becoming the spokesperson and megaphone of the ASviS Sustainable Development Festival, scheduled from 7 to 23 May with a closing concert on Friday 24 May.


Heroes amplifies the value of music as a catalyst for social change. Over the years, Heroes has consolidated its identity as a mainstream music festival with a strong social impact. In 2020, the first edition was dedicated to the support of male and female workers in the performing arts, with the participation of 40 artistsə and the collection of almost EUR 1 million donated to the COVID-19 Sustaining Music fund. In 2021, Heroes fought for gender equality, involving 12 artistə and raising 120,000 euro for the global Mission Diversity project. The 2022 edition, Heroes Festival for the Planet, featured Elisa as the star and raised over 150,000 euro donated to Legambiente for the European project Life Terra. With the 2023 preview event, the focus was on Reducing Inequalities and the redevelopment of the suburban area of Bagnoli, Naples, where alongside Dardust numerous emerging and local artistsə took the stage at Heroes.
In 2024, in its fourth edition, the Music Innovation Hub project promoting sustainability and inclusivity will be transformed into a widespread musical adventure that will cross Italy alongside the ASviS Sustainable Development Festival, in collaboration with the UN SDG Action Campaign.

Each Heroes event is realised in collaboration with an important local partner. Each venue is chosen by Heroes Festival for its social and cultural value and for its ability to bring the local community together.

 

Bio

Music Innovation Hub (MIH) is a social enterprise in Milan that focuses on innovation and social responsibility in the music sector. Founded in 2018, it is the first of its kind in Italy and is supported by various organizations including Giordano dell’Amore Social Venture Foundation, Fondazione Cariplo’s social impact investment fund, OxA srl, the special purpose company established by the Temporary Association of Enterprises, and Sefea Impact, the first SGR in Italy dedicated to impact investing. MIH aims to support the growth of the music industry and its stakeholders by promoting sustainable music projects. They offer training, incubation, acceleration, and networking programs both nationally and internationally. One of their notable programs is the Linecheck Music Meeting and Festival held at BASE Milano. Since its inception, MIH has prioritized the innovation of the music ecosystem and the promotion of the United Nations’ Agenda 2030 through music, considering music as a powerful tool for social change.


The Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development (ASVIS) was established in 2016 to create awareness about the importance of the 2030 Agenda and to promote sustainability. ASVIS currently has over 320 members, including major institutions and civil society networks, who contribute to the organization through working groups. ASVIS aims to encourage active participation from its members by providing opportunities for collaboration, training, and exchange. One of ASVIS’s notable initiatives is the annual Festival of Sustainable Development, a 17-day event that showcases various activities related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Since its inception in 2016, the Festival has organized over 5,500 events and has been recognized as a finalist for the UN SDG Action Awards. The upcoming 2024 Festival of Sustainable Development will be held from 7 to 23 May, both online and in various locations across Italy and globally.
