Moleskine Foundation A Creativity Revival – An Evening Under Other Suns

An evening dedicated to our shared relationship with language, and to the futures it helps us imagine.

We all belong to language, and language belongs to us. This evening honours that mutual belonging, however fragile it may sometimes be: it is through words that we find meaning, and through words that we keep making and remaking the world. The evening is guided by the theme of this year’s Revival, Other Suns. The phrase comes from the writer Octavia Butler: “There is nothing new under the sun but there are new suns.” Other suns are not distant, utopian futures, but new ways of seeing, naming and belonging that make different futures feel possible from where we already stand. Three words accompany the theme: Time, Disorientation and Tenderness.

Four voices bring these ideas to life:

  • Poet and African feminist writer Jessica Horn treats tenderness as a foundation for new possibilities; her latest book is African Feminist Praxis.

  • Visual artist and researcher Heba Y. Amin uses humour and satire to question how history, technology and the Global South are seen.

  • Cognitive scientist and philosopher Roberto Casati studies how we lose our bearings, and how we find our way again.

  • Poet and playwright Titilope Sonuga closes the evening with a special performance, accompanied by award-winning violinist and artist Kyla-Rose Smith.

The evening is moderated by Lwando Xaso, lawyer, writer and Narrative Lead at Moleskine Foundation.

Bio

A Creativity Revival is the annual UnConference of the Creativity Pioneers, now in its fourth year. It takes place at BASE Milano from 12 to 16 October 2026, bringing more than 150 Creativity Pioneers from around the world together to learn from one another, share their work and celebrate.

An UnConference is a gathering shaped by its participants: instead of a fixed line-up of experts, workshops and discussions grow from the ideas of the people in the room. On 14 and 15 October, part of the programme opens to the public.

The Creativity Pioneers are cultural and creative organisations from around the world that use creativity to address social challenges, from climate change and youth unemployment to conflict. They are part of the Creativity Pioneers Fund, launched in 2021 by Moleskine Foundation, which invests in, connects and champions these organisations through flexible funding, peer exchange and a global network.

Moleskine Foundation is a non-profit organisation based at BASE Milano, working for Creativity for Social Change: the belief that creativity is not only a gift to humanity but a necessity for rethinking and rebuilding institutions, communities and the world.
