Creativity Pioneers Residency
Moleskine Foundation and BASE are working together across their curatorial frameworks (Other Suns and Hello Darkness ↗) to explore how creative practices respond to a present shaped by instability, inequality and continuous change, while opening up space for alternative ways of imagining and inhabiting the future.
Rather than treating this as a separation between present and future, the open call starts from their entanglement: how can artistic and cultural practices operate within complex and unstable conditions, while still generating new orientations and possibilities?
BASE and Moleskine Foundation come together around a shared question: how do we work within the present in ways that allow alternative futures to emerge? Rather than resolving this as a conceptual opposition, this residency starts from practice itself.
Strategic
Synergy
Moleskine Foundation is headquartered at BASE Milano, where it’s a key partner within the Project House ecosystem ↗.
Our shared commitment to social and cultural impact is reflected in our ongoing collaboration: from the promotion of the 2023 Bird of Passage artistic residencies ↗ to the co-creation of the I.D.E.A. (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Accessibility) framework ↗.
The Residency
This call is open to Creativity Pioneers across all the cohorts of the Creativity Pioneers Fund ↗, working in creative disciplines, including, but not limited to visual arts, film, performance, design, literary arts, journalism, biodiversity, social practices and hybrid formats.
↘ The call will select 2 Creativity Pioneers from the Creativity Pioneers Fund community (one person per organisation is eligible to benefit from the residency).
↘ The selected organisation’s representative will be invited to develop their research within BASE Milano, engaging with its spaces, communities and public dimension.
↘ The outputs of the residency will be shared during The Creativity Revival gathering, taking place in Milan from 12-16 October, in the form of the UNCONFERENCE session.
↘ All applications, and ultimately the presentations, must be delivered in English; however, the work produced may be in any language.
Are you a
Creativity Pioneer?
We invite practitioners across all cohorts and disciplines—visual arts, film, performance, design, social practices, and hybrid formats—whose work engages with:
Imagination
as a tool for radical transformation;
Counter-maps
that guide us through uncertainty;
Collective & Participatory
processes rooted in specific contexts;
Action over Speculation
We want practices that activate change now.
Ready to map the unknown?

Meet the 2026 Pioneers
On July 15, we will reveal the two selected projects.
This space will then host their stories, research, and the “Suns” they are building for our collective future.
