Performing Architecture heads to Spain: Lemonot + O-SH bring Ser Miento to Logroño for Festival Concéntrico 2025

Once burned or forgotten in the fields, now reimagined as architecture. Ser Miento is a site-specific project by the Italian-British duo Lemonot and the collective O–SH, part of Performing Architecture and hosted by Concéntrico 2025, the International Festival of Architecture and Design in Logroño.

The project begins with a simple, ancient gesture: collecting and reusing sarmientos — vine shoots pruned in winter from the vineyards of La Rioja. 1,200 bundles of these agricultural remnants, salvaged from local wineries, are transformed into a light, curved, almost floating architectural installation.

In Plaza del Revellín, on the edge of the historic center, the sarmientos are woven into a 16-meter-long, over-4-meter-tall wooden structure, composed of vertical modules and horizontal ribs. A natural skin that filters light, casts shadows on the ground, offers shelter from the sun, and opens new visual perspectives onto the city.

At its heart lies a suspended convivium: a shared table set between two rows of benches, just slightly raised above street level. A space to inhabit, to move through, to touch — and yes, even to barbecue on. An open invitation to come together, to reimagine the piazza, to turn an agricultural gesture into an urban ritual.

In a site once home to bullfights and public events, Ser Miento offers a new way to perform space: not a spectacle to watch, but an experience to live. An architecture that’s fragile, ephemeral, porous — like summer, like smoke rising from a glowing fire.
