Tortona: Another Week

BASE; Matilde Cassani; Martina Rota

The installation “Another Week”, hosted in the Ground Hall of BASE, by visual artist Matilde Cassani, reflects on the representation of Milan as a city of events and speed. In a word, a city of “weeks”. These weeks range from architecture to design, creating moments that bring communities together in a deeply privatized city.

However, “Weeks” also represent spaces of performance and frenzyness, where the communities they build often last no longer than the week itself.

“Another Week” proposes a new way to experience Fuorisalone 2025, offering a different spatial perspective on Design Week. It creates an environment where stimuli and events are reduced, leaving only the bodies and their relationships with the space. A large rubber sole carpet marks the entrance to the Ground Hall of BASE, absorbing the footprints of Fuorisalone visitors. Inside, long rugs overlap with sports mats, flooding the floor and compelling us to slow down, get comfortable, and – perhaps – wait.

Around the themes of bodies, performance, and community, is the performance by Martina Rota, dancer and choreographer in the field of visual arts, who will activate Cassani’s installation.
