FAROUT Live Arts Festival Martina Gambardella — Mute

performance

Where does movement come from?

Mute wishes to bring attention to the body as a shifting space of existence, in an attempt to celebrate it and thus liberate it to its unstructured existence, to the extended landscapes, at once intimate and plural, that tactile and perceptual experience opens up as the threshold of knowledge of its functioning is crossed and habits are deconstructed.

Through a process of learning and deconstruction, which develops from a very significant relationship with the ground and with gravity, and which is based on the principles of weight and pause, the body inhabits a condition of silence and openness such that it turns its gaze to the other from itself, intercepting moment by moment the forces that pass through it and trespassing through an invisible network of infinite connections. The body is here observed in its constant becoming a medium, a channel through which movement, caught in its constantly nascent state, manifests itself .

Mute thus wishes to guide the viewer through a space that transcends the perception of inside and outside, to happen to movement alone, as pure articulation, infinitely remodeled, of the constant desire for conjunction to the other that inhabits us.
