In a world where reality and digital are increasingly intertwined, we too are changing shape. We are hybrid beings, suspended between online identities and offline lives, between imagination and survival. We are chimeras: dreams, illusions, rewritings of what is possible.

Vertigo Film Fest returns to BASE: the Milanese short film festival is back for its sixth edition. From July 3 to 6, screenings, talks, live podcasts, and Q&As with directors from around the globe. A chance to dive deep into short-form cinema, where experimentation and new visions take center stage.

The 2025 theme is Future Chimeras. In an era where our identities shift between physical and digital, between reality and projection, the festival selection prompts us to ask: what is the contemporary human becoming? A mythological, fragmented, and plural creature caught between dream and dystopia.

21 international short films compete in categories including Best Short Film, Best Documentary, Best Animation, plus a special section dedicated to the Milano Academy, showcasing student work from local schools.

During the festival, the audience plays an active role: they can vote for their favorite, which will win the Audience Award. The closing ceremony will take place on Sunday, July 6, with special mentions for directing, script, cinematography, editing, set design, music, and performance.

More than just screenings, Vertigo Film Fest is a platform for dialogue and exchange. Radio Itineraria, media partner of the event, will be present throughout, with hosts Gianluca Quattrocchi and Aurelio Russo gathering interviews and hot takes via their show Fuori Fuoco, opening up a space for real-time conversation between artists and audience.

Bio

For six years, Vertigo Film Fest has been Milan’s international short film festival bringing stories from around the world to dream, discuss, share, and reconnect.

The stories told on screen become interactive through panels, public discussions, informal chats with directors and crews, student showcases, and guests offering fresh perspectives—even beyond cinema.
