The starting point is the origin, or base of every kind of food service, in its most primordial form: people gathering around a fire to eat with their hands, using sticks to help them.
The raw materials arrive at BASE after a careful process of selection, favouring small businesses which employ sustainable production methods. Edible creations, designed by Lorenzo Castellini, the founding partner of esterni, alongside the chef Sebastiano Mauri. New lines are introduced weekly according to the availability of seasonal produce. These lines are carefully matched with natural wines, as at BASE we amplify the dining experience in unexpected ways.
We serve up not just meat but also vegetables, first courses and desserts in a linear formation, with menus tailored to suit meat-eaters, vegetarians, vegans and omnivores. The influence of both Italian and international street food is strongly felt and is reinterpreted in order to provide a fine dining experience suited to all tastes, at affordable prices.
The bar works closely with BASE Milano’s projects, welcoming not just the public attending large events, but also the regular residents of casaBASE and the burò.
The bar serves as a café for students and professionals as well as locals. In the evening it becomes the ideal setting for anyone in search of an unusual restaurant experience, or looking to enjoy a drink in international surroundings.
Un posto a BASE is a production of Esterni, one of BASE Milano’s partners, who have been committed to the reappropriation of public spaces and the regeneration of rural buildings since 1995.
Created by Francesco Bombardi, the BASE Milano bar-bistro enhances the industrial character of the space, so as to eschew existing categorisations and engage all your senses.
