We Will Design 2023 — MUSIC Warm-Up

by BASE Milano

Responding in music to the visions of the society to come. We Will Design 2023 also featured MUSIC: a musical program that filled the nights during the Fuori Salone 2023.

Underground artists performed live sets and performances from sunset to late at night, featuring vinyl records and experimental music. Broadcasted live from Volvo Studio Milano, four artists represented the innovations of the Italian music scene.

Marta Tenaglia

Milanese singer-songwriter. Her songs feature soft vocal beats and honest lyrics, clear as mirrors. Before her voice emerges, it takes a winding path, losing time and descending as much as it can, only to rise and gently touch you—without asking for permission.

I Le Lucertole

A band from Rimini made up of four young songwriters. Like lizards, they love the sun and change, losing their tails in traumatic ways, but never stop evolving. With emotion and energy, they pursue their goal: saving Italian pop.

Claire Fontaine

An intimate opportunity to get to know the eccentric personality of Claire Fontaine, the collective artist present at BASE with the “Cancel Patriarchy” installation in the spring of 2023. Founded in Paris in 2004 by James Thornhill and Fulvia Carnevale, Claire Fontaine uses various media and rejects the obligation to adopt a recognizable vocabulary of forms in her work. Instead, she approaches it as an ongoing experimental search, a continual exploration.

Alex Fernet

He sings and plays guitar, keyboards, and bass. In 2020, he launched his solo project, debuting with “1 2 3 Stella.” Mixing modern funk and nu boogie, his music ventures along bold, nocturnal paths, where the only “straight” element is the bass drum, dictating the rhythms to follow.

P L Z

Two musicians, two masks. PLZ’s music is a sentimental tale of growth and dissolution without direction, but in the name of love. Rich in electronics, effects, and keyboards, their project fits within Italy’s alternative music scene.
