A transformative installation fosters neurodiversity-friendly spaces, emphasizing shy gestures. Shy individuals often face societal pressure to conform to extroverted norms, leading to stigma in public settings. This installation provides a refuge for expressing vulnerabilities, making public spaces accommodating to diverse needs. The installation consists of padded fabric layers that allow for touch, observation, and movement, creating a calming and adaptable space where people feel embraced and reassured.

Laura Stachon is an interdisciplinary Designer from Germany. In her current design practice, which intersects psychology, architecture, and sensory experience, she is captivated by the influence public spaces wield over our mood and self-esteem. Her research delves into personal experiences within high-pressure and competitive environments, such as school and work. Through her Master graduation project ‘Walls That Match My Mood,’ she aims to explore how these environments could transform when approached from a shy and neurodiverse point of view.
