RESIDENT ARTISTS 2025 –– 2027
Calderoni –– Caleo and Lemonot are the new Resident Artists at BASE.
Their residencies, supported by BASE, aim to root artistic experimentation within the urban fabric, developing installations, performances, and participatory actions that foster conviviality and dialogue with the community.
Creative alliances to inhabit the present.
Where research meets production, time expands, and the urban context becomes living material.
BASE Milano supports long-term artistic paths, weaving together research, production, and programming.
The Resident Artists program is designed to strengthen the cultural impact of art within the city, merging artistic practices with public life, and promoting experimentation and dialogue with citizens and cultural networks.
An open, stable, and fertile lab — beyond short formats — to build long-lasting cultural alliances.

Calderoni –– Caleo
«There’s a longing for extended time in a moment where everything is rushed. A desire to inhabit a space, when everything tends to disembody. To summon others, while the pressure is to go solo. To create spaces for transmission and intermingling, to open up research ateliers not bound to production. […] Thinking in the long term helps us breathe, and trains the gaze to go further. Opening, involving, expanding our pores, taking time, imagining, listening — a repetition that resists. We’re here.».
Calderoni –– Caleo is an artistic duo active since 2012, born out of the Teatro Valle Occupato. Their work intertwines performing arts, critical thought, and transfeminist practices.
Silvia Calderoni trained with Teatro della Valdoca and has been part of Motus since 2006. Ilenia Caleo works at the intersection of feminist epistemologies and experimental performing arts.
Together they’ve created collective projects like KISS (2019) and the nomadic SO IT IS, and took part in the Fluō project (2021) with the performance thefutureisNOW?.
In 2023, they premiered The Present Is Not Enough in Hamburg, which was later presented at BASE during the FAROUT Festival.
They return to BASE co-curating the residency program ENdangered ENsemble, which selected Martina Rota and Danila Gambettola. On October 4 and 5, 2025, they’ll present a preview of FAROUT Live Arts Festival with temporale {a lesbian tragedy}.

Lemonot
«For us, conviviality is not an abstract concept but a concrete, embodied, and dynamic experience—one that’s deeply connected to the physical world. We practice conviviality by deconstructing and reimagining ways of being together. In this sense, BASE Milano – with its network of people and hybrid spaces – is the perfect setting to explore how public buildings can become laboratories for conviviality through architectural objects that are performative and inhabitable, capable of sparking moments of everyday and festival-based exchange.».
Lemonot is an architecture duo (Sabrina Morreale and Lorenzo Perri), trained at the Architectural Association in London and active between Italy and the UK. Their work explores new forms of urban coexistence through participatory architecture, site-specific installations, and performances.
They address themes such as conviviality and unconventional placemaking, investigating how buildings and architectural objects can become “labs of conviviality” in public spaces. They currently lead the Architectural Design Studio 7 at the Royal College of Art in London. In 2024, Sabrina Morreale was named Enel Foundation Italian Fellow in Architecture at the American Academy in Rome.
During the 2024 Art and Design Weeks, Lemonot curated the TALAMO installation at BASE, alongside the performance in a restless state by arisandmartha.
They returned for FAROUT 2024 with MOÉCA, a convivial structure welcoming BASE’s daily visitors.
In 2025, for Design Week, they’ll launch bistroBASE in collaboration with Ingo Maurer and Kindof. They were also selected for Performing Architecture, thanks to their collaboration with Alberonero on a project in Chiaravalle. Their work will be presented internationally at Concéntrico Festival in Logroño.

Lemonot in Logroño
Performing Architecture continues its journey. New forms, new rituals, new landscapes — from Milan to Concéntrico.

Macchine da Festa in Chiaravalle
Mobile architectures, moving communities. Food, play, and learning intertwine through gentle rituals and shareable forms.

MOÉCA: the welcoming table
A metallic, mysterious, convivial object awaiting transformation. Each day, it hosts whoever walks through BASE.

TALAMO: shared suspension
A massive bed, a living sculpture, a floating landscape of bodies, gravity, and desire. TALAMO invites you to inhabit time.

Bodies dancing in TALAMO
arisandmartha lead us into the heart of the installation: a choreographic performance of tension, surrender, and matter.

RESIDENT ARTISTS 2022 –– 2024
Elisabetta Consonni, CORPS CITOYEN, MOMBAO
For the 2022–2024 cycle, BASE supported the work of Elisabetta Consonni, CORPS CITOYEN (Anna Serlenga and Rabii Brahim), and MOMBAO (Anselmo Luisi and Damon Arabsolgar), who played an active role in the programme through co-curation, public events, and community workshops. Together, we explored new ways of co-inhabiting the spaces at BASE, opening up to fresh perspectives and meaningful dialogue, and mapping out desirable trajectories for an open, plural, and democratic creative practice.

CORPS CITOYEN
From the research on Gli Altri to artistic participation projects in Milan’s neighbourhoods—such as Cavalcavia, Home Project, and the collaboration with Twiza Festival. And then the birth of Barrani and The Political Body.
2022 –– 2024
Trap Community Opera
How do you tell the story of a neighbourhood through music? Or through dance?
Trap Community Opera is a participatory artistic project involving a group of teenagers from the San Siro and Giambellino districts, blending trap music, dance, and theatre. Guided by Milano Mediterranea, they created a trap opera narrating San Siro from their own perspective.
A project by Milano Mediterranea and Corps Citoyen, in partnership with BASE Milano, supported by Fondazione di Comunità Milano as part of the Musicami festival. The project is developed in collaboration with and supported by IIS Galilei-Luxemburg.
2022 –– 2024
MOMBAO
Cavalcavia, musical parades and training programmes, album release and intimate concerts at Volvo Studio. Each year at FAROUT, MOMBAO’s artistic journey evolved, showcasing their singular sound and identity.
2022 –– 2024
