FLŌSSERN – in fluent explores alternative ways of engaging with river systems. Using the raft as a platform, it investigates how to experience the river differently and how alternative measurement methods can create spaces for knowledge exchange and new relationships between the Alpine region and the delta.
A hand-built raft becomes a mobile measuring station floating on the Rhine, functioning as an unconventional research tool. This structure fosters direct engagement with river landscapes and with the people, ecosystems, and institutions that develop around the river.
Drawing on the pre-industrial tradition of raft navigation, the project reflects on how industrial standards have shaped our relationship with rivers.

It is an invitation to recognize the abyss — political, ecological, aesthetic — we’re living in, not as a place of fear, but as a space of regeneration, resistance, and imagination. Darkness here is not absence, but a fertile condition that embraces invisible gestures, marginalized knowledge, and luminous forms of resistance.
