Performing Architecture

A sound installation where the wind becomes both language and a communication tool between ecosystems.

The performance conceived by Caterina Gobbi for DOPO? creates a sonic environment where the wind takes center stage. The wind becomes a language, a shared means of communication between species and ecosystems. It is deeply tied to history, deities, and the psyche; scientific studies have shown that it can alter serotonin levels, influencing mood states. At the same time, the sounds of the wind have a remarkable ability to evoke tranquility and relaxation.

This event is part of Performing Architecture ↗, a city-wide festival running from April 3–13 across five neighborhoods in Milan’s south side, tracing a path between architecture and performing arts. Five districts, five visions—a laboratory of experimentation where architecture becomes body, sound, ritual, and refuge. A collective exercise in rethinking urban living, turning spaces into places of encounter, gesture, and listening.

Performing Architecture is a project born from the collaboration between BASE Milano and DOPO? and is among the winning projects of the Festival Architettura, promoted by the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Italian Ministry of Culture to support, promote, and enhance contemporary Italian architecture.
