An interactive installation that transforms noise pollution into therapeutic harmony, inspired by the sonic structure of natural ecosystems.
Paul Louis is a Design Director and Sound Artist who has been shaping the auditory identity of future mobility for years, specializing in EV driving sounds, chimes, and AVAS (Acoustic Vehicle Alerting Systems). His expertise, which balances technical functionality and emotional resonance, extends from the automotive sector to sonic branding for global companies.
With B:N:S – Biomimetic Sound Network, Louis brings his vision to the urban scale. The project is a research-based installation aiming to reimagine urban and automotive soundscapes by turning polluting noise into an immersive and therapeutic auditory experience.
The core concept is Sonic Biomimetics: the work is inspired by biophony—the way natural ecosystems structure sounds across distinct frequency ranges. B:N:S reframes the chaotic sound of cities as opportunities for harmony and interaction rather than disruption.
The installation unfolds in two distinct phases, “Pollution” and “Symbiosis,” inviting participants to actively influence the sonic and visual landscape through their movements and proximity. In doing so, visitors are positioned as agents of change, demonstrating how citizen interaction can reshape the sonic identity of urban life.
Developed with contributions from the Max Planck Institute and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), B:N:S combines automotive sound expertise with biomimetic design principles. The project challenges conventional urban planning, proposing a sound-first vision of future cities, where design and technology foster mental resilience, ecological awareness, and new forms of community interaction.

Paul Louis is an expert in UX/UI sound design and urban sonic architecture. Since 2016, he has defined acoustic signatures for leading automotive manufacturers. His versatile portfolio includes sound logos for payment platforms and sonic branding strategies for software companies. His creative leadership was recognized through judging roles at prestigious awards such as the Transform Awards and the Data Sonification Awards in 2025.

This project is part of ReSilence: Future Soundscapes & Affect Mining in Urban Ecosystems, the exhibition showcasing the outcomes of fifteen international art residencies supported by S+T+ARTS (the European Commission’s initiative for science, technology, and the arts). Through the artistic exploration of sound, RESILENCE redefines urban spaces, using the acoustic dimension to analyze the complex affective and ecological relations of future cities and promote collective awareness of what lies beyond mere noise. The exhibition is presented in collaboration with BASE, as part of the FAROUT Festival 2025 edition.
