Like the people who live in them, cities also change, but not always spontaneously. In recent years, especially in Milan and large urban centers, we have witnessed massive “redevelopment” operations: top-down interventions that transform neighborhoods until they are unrecognizable. Often presented as “regenerative,” these processes end up accentuating inequality and making cities increasingly exclusionary.
On June 18, we will meet at Open Casello to reflect on how to imagine more inclusive and just cities together.
We will do this starting with the book “Femminismo di periferia” by Martina Micciché (2024, Edizioni Sonda) and the short film “L’ultima goccia” by Luca Leone Silvestri: an essay and a projection that take us inside and beyond the milanese suburbs, recounting their urban, social and cultural transformations.
Chi resta fuori? Periferie che cambiano, città che escludono

Cities are not just geographical places: they are social spaces in which identities are formed and relationships are woven
Bio
Liberamente is a grassroots, nonprofit project by Silvia Puelli and Jessica Sinigaglia, focused on sharing and civic participation by citizens. It is a free meeting place open to all: we meet once a month in Milan to bring the debate from the digital world to the real one, accompanied by activist who help us understand more and open our minds. We step out of the confines of our screens to talk freely about rights, the future, the environment, feminism, fatphobia, racism and more. Liberamente is a safe space to learn, reflect and grow together. All people are welcome and invited to share their ideas and stories.
