DAEMON is one of the names branded onto the soul of Frankensteinโ€™s Creature โ€” a nameless, storyless being, defined only through the gaze of others, who finally gains voice, body, and rage. A rave of images, sounds, and rebellion unfolds among gothic mists and unheard desires: in this performance, Motus explores the origins of hatred and transformation โ€” that precise click that turns love into violence, kindness into fury, solitude into revolt.

Between hallucination and political urgency, lucid nightmares and feverish visions, gothic phantasmagoria and watery reflections, imagined raves and furious dances, DAEMON becomes a symbol for all marginalized, demonized subjectivities. Shelley and the Creature blur into a continuous dialogue, while the image of the hunted, cornered being โ€” like a frightened deer โ€” takes shape. In these dark times, the Creatureโ€™s voice is more necessary than ever: a dissenting, peripheral voice demanding the right to exist and to set the world ablaze with its rage.

Motus plunges deep into the dark core of the Frankenstein myth to portray the exact moment the Creature becomes aware of its outcast condition.
Following Frankenstein (a love story), this new chapter unfolds as a visionary prelude to the projectโ€™s second movement: Frankenstein (a History of Hate), premiering in 2025.

Bio

Founded in 1991 by Enrico Casagrande and Daniela Nicolรฒ, Motus is an independent, nomadic company that has made movement โ€” across languages, countries, and conflicts โ€” its artistic signature. Rooted in a strong political and poetic tension, Motus confronts the wounds of the present through works that merge theatre, dance, music, and visual arts. The company has worked on texts by Genet, Fassbinder, DeLillo, Beckett, and Pasolini, creating performances that have left a significant mark on the contemporary scene.

Motus continues to question boundaries, identity, and insubordination with works like MDLSX, Panorama, and Tutto Brucia, exploring tragic female figures and the margins of the visible with radical intensity.

Stanze is a festival curated by Alberica Archinto and produced by Teatro Alkaest, bringing theatre to places where it is not usually found. Museums, gardens, galleries, gyms, artistsโ€™ studios, and hidden spaces are transformed into unexpected stages. The festival welcomes new or work-in-progress pieces, offering contemporary artists a vibrant space for experimentation โ€” somewhere between the intimacy of rehearsal and the first encounter with the audience. Each event is tailor-made, shaped by the dialogue between the performance and the space that hosts it. In doing so, theatre steps outside its traditional boundaries, engaging new audiences and dissolving the distance between artist and spectator.
