CampuStore w/ Francesco Bombardi

by BASE Milano

Can a school environment become a space for meta-thinking, where student and teacher well-being is at the core, blending innovation, aesthetics, and functionality to foster complex thought? This is the vision of CampuStore, an Italian family-run company that has been transforming educational spaces for over 30 years with inclusive and forward-thinking projects.

CampuStore believes that the design of learning environments should be a societal priority, as schools are the foundation of future generations. This philosophy materializes in a unique collection of learning objects, designed by Francesco Bombardi, that merge furniture, technology, and content into singular material forms. Each piece is a bridge between past and future, drawing from collective memory while offering a fresh perspective on educational growth.

At the heart of the project is an immersive learning environment structured around totemic micro-architectures. These elements create gathering points for collaborative exploration of science, using the universal language of ‘making.’ Inspired by Friedrich Froebel’s pedagogical gifts, the designs function as inhabitable kaleidoscopes, inviting students to engage with natural phenomena, material transformations, and the interplay between analog and digital, instinct and reason.

Each element within this collection tells a story: the evolution of a child’s learning journey, mirroring the greater arc of human development. Designed for both educational and home settings, these pieces redefine the way we perceive and structure learning, offering a singular, globally unparalleled approach to shaping the minds of tomorrow.

So... is this getting serious?
