Quattrox4 is a centre that is committed to the valorisation of contemporary circus to promote its legitimacy among the performing arts. During their residency at BASE, the members of the association were confronted with an unfamiliar language, that of cinema, thanks to an encounter with film director and photographer Beniamino Barrese. A contamination between the acrobatic body, text, video, and plastic arts. From this encounter and dialogue, was created the documentary ‘OLTRE GRETEL’ by Beniamino Barrese and Clara Storti. Beniamino Barrese studied Philosophy at the Università Statale di Milano, Cinematography at the National Film and Television School in Beaconsfield, UK, and International Political Economy at King’s College London. Passionate about politics, philosophy, theatre, performing arts and circus – his attempt is always to hold together a vast complexity of themes and inspirations and to coherently bring them together in his research work with images.
