FAROUT Live Arts Festival Mammalian Diving Reflex — Trofei Teen Tenaci

performance

As this year’s Official Festival Jury, a frank group of teenagers are invited to review, critique and vote on all FAROUT Live Arts Festival has to offer. Subverting traditional jury structures, the teens call the shots, and in their own Award Ceremony tell us exactly what they think.

This year, FAROUT Live Arts Festival introduces the Official Festival Jury! A candid group of teenagers will engage with nearly all the projects at this year’s festival, observing, reviewing, critiquing, and ultimately voting on everything FAROUT has to offer. These lively spectators will be treated like VIPs as they award honors at a final Awards Ceremony, based on their own criteria—criteria applied to a program not specifically tailored for them.

Trofei Teen Tenaci redefines the social contract between young people, adult audiences, and arts & cultural institutions. Typically, teenagers’ critical perspectives are sidelined, overlooked by adult artists, organizations, curators, reviewers, and media. By establishing an official Festival Jury, Trofei Teen Tenaci empowers teenagers to make executive decisions and actively participate in the arts & cultural landscape, lending weight and legitimacy to their essential viewpoints.

Beyond its educational value, Trofei Teen Tenaci is a subversive act that challenges adults to reconsider the power dynamics inherent in our conceptions of youth, education, and art. The verdict will be decisive!
