How to resist and find a route? What is the role of a cultural project that you want political and engaged in the radical change of the time that lives? How to navigate the storm<\/em>?

Milano Mediterranea<\/span><\/a>, the decolonial art center that speaks the languages of the sea, opens the year in style and is ready to launch its fourth edition with Al Aassifa \u0627\u0644\u0639\u0627\u0635\u0641\u0629 – NAVIGARE LA TEMPESTA<\/strong>, the open call 2024 dedicated to artists of the diasporas resident on the national territory and interested in building a relationship and new narratives of the neighborhood, for the neighborhood but especially with<\/em> the neighborhood. Which one? Giambellino.

Active involvement of citizens through participatory artistic residences, a permanent workshop for young people, a neighborhood committee that supports Milano Mediterranea in the selection of residency projects and cultural programming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c<\/strong>We believe in fact that the cultural field is a space invested with the responsibility of addressing the issue of social injustice not as a thematic area, but as a dense system of power that inhabits our structures and our relationships. We believe it is possible to stop the reproduction of this system only through placements, pressures and effective and affective practices\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Admission criteria<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emerging performative actions of different nature are welcome, including: performance, sound and new media art, text-based performance, lecture performance, multimedia storytelling, choreporaphic practices, relactional practices and workshop-based projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professional artists with no age limits, with a migrant background resident in Italy, who have at the heart of their artistic journey the interaction with people, communities and territories, can participate in the competition. The Artistic Director and the District Committee will evaluate in a rewarding way the nominations of people who recognize themselves as racialized subjects.
In addition to the production of the selected project, and the realization of a public outcome, we ask the willingness to offer an intensive seminar (duration and modalities to be agreed with the management).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The artistic director and the district selection committee will inspect the materials during the month of January and February 2024, giving notice to the selection by 26 February 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
