This year, once again, pianos will arrive in every corner of the city: houses, courtyards, parks, museums, schools, libraries, swimming pools. The music will never stop from dusk to dawn and from dawn to dusk in a continuous declaration of love for the piano, its music and the city of Milan.
Piano City Milano is one of the most popular popular festivals, where the piano notes accompany the citizens to the rediscovery of the city. Among the different thematic routes of this edition of Piano City Milano, the concerts at BASE will be a reference to the concepts of metamorphosis and sound contamination.

- EDOARDO BROTTO
Classic, impro, original musics
Sunday, may 20 – 2pm
Music program entirely composed by Edoardo Brotto inspired by the styles of the great composers of the past. A temporal and intersection of the various musical styles is proposed: a waltz in the form of a chopin style followed by an imaginary conversation in music between Rachmaninov and Chopin and then move on to the Three variations on the theme of Game of Thrones which present a wide and free re-elaboration of the famous theme in three different styles: to Brahms – merry imperial; to Rachmaninov, where the unlimited potential of transformation is explored; Waltz, variation from which slowly emerges a waltz at first indefinite and then grandiose that goes off in plays of sounds and echoes.
Sunday, may 20 – 7pm
Pencils and markers, an electric piano and rhythmic designers: the performance of the ensemble Matita, a quintet made up of electric piano and four designers, creates collective scores from 70s jazz-prog echoes, minimal electronics and ambient breaths. The design is carried out on microphones, which amplify the sound of pencils, pens, and markers. The act of drawing is then transformed into a rhythmic visual and aural gesture at the same time, which accompanies and gives form and structure to the music. The rhythm remains on paper like a retrospective score, like an atemporal track. A game of references between electric piano and pencils, pens, felt-tip pens that gives life to an organic electronics, entirely performed live.
