Cross-over residencies – Lithuania/Italy
supported by Art Printing House and Residenza IDRA
Dueditre with Elena Valdetara, Michela Priuli and Vittoria Franchina (Italy) Lukas Karvelis, Adrián Crespo Barba, and Luka Žiobakaitė (Lithuania)
The Arts Printing House in Lithuania is a unique creative space for performance art which also functions as a meeting point for artistic souls. Founded in a printing press dating back to 1585, it is situated in the heart of Vilnius’ historic centre. The Arts Printing House is committed to changing the performance art landscape by organising dozens of events every month and housing a number of independent organisations whose artistic endeavours come to life on site.
Dueditre is a project founded on a quest for visual appeal through an exploration of scenic design, focusing on the body as a tool of expression. Vittoria Franchina, Michela Priuli and Elena Valdetara discovered a shared desire to embark on a creative collaboration at the end of their course at the Susanna Beltrami/Dancehaus Academy of Modern Dance. Since 2018 they have been associated with the national production centre Dancehauspiù. Dueditre’s first piece, “Protognos”, was presented as a study case in 2017 during ITfestival, (independent theatre festival), at Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan.
Book presentation for “Il territorio in scena. Dieci anni di residenze ETRE” (“The local area on stage. Ten years of ETRE residencies”)
run by Stefano Laffi and Andrea Maulini
The event is co-run by Associazione ETRE
Presentation by Marina Visentini
The book takes the reader on a deeply felt narrative journey through ten years of activity at ETRE, as well as the individual residencies, currently a total of 13 spread throughout Lombardy, which have played a key role over the years in developing the areas involved. Marina Visentini, current president of ETRE, says: “Ten years after it was founded, Associazione Etre has decided to invite its Residencies to tell their story, and recount their experience of stepping out of the theatre and into communities. The residency format is a practice that has long been a fixture on the contemporary art scene, and for the theatre it represents a mobile, blurry point of equilibrium between the local area and the theatre company, between creation and uncertainty, time and place.”
Cross-over residency – Germany/Italy
supported by Lake Studios Berlin and R.A.M.I. Residenza Artistica Multidisciplinare ILINXARIUM
Lake Studios Berlin is a shared production space, a dance-focused Artistic Residence which is open to nine different residents at a time. These are mostly freelance artists working in a range of different dance styles and methods, maintaining a continuous reflection and reciprocal exchange during the production process in the residency. This unfolds through a series of informal gatherings, dinners, screenings/discussions and other methods of exchange. In addition to two halls with wood flooring, there are a number of facilities including a large garden, a carpentry workshop for building sets and props, sewing machines, a multimedia lab/library, as well as a range of technical equipment such as a projector, stage lighting, piano, camera, mixer and sound system. The space is unique in terms of its calm, focused atmosphere and the friendly community of artists who support the creative process. Opportunities for screenings are organised monthly, as are professional development courses and seminars to inspire the flow of ideas and choreographic exploration.
