Jeannette Ehlers, Danish videomaker, photographer, and performance artist. She has shown her work at AROS, Aarhus, Denmark; the Museum of Latin American Art, Los Angeles; the International Slavery Museum, Liverpool; the McKenna Museum of African American Art, New Orleans; Nikolaj Copenhagen Contemporary Art Center, Denmark; and the Pérez Art Museum, Miami.
Jeannette Ehlers is a Danish artist of Caribbean origin who directs attention toward these issues in order to bring us face-to-face with narratives that have often been neglected. Jeannette’s retrospective sparks a debate, open to the both guests and the public around the themes of how Italy deals with its colonial past, anti-immigration rhetoric and growing racism, and the role art has in all this.
Jeannette Ehlers’ I Am Here – on counter narratives from Europe is part of #DanskArte – a cultural exchange project curated by Arkipelago and realised in collaboration with BASE Milano.
